National Library of Medicine, MedlinePlus: Website that provides news
and information on all types of cancer selected from a wide range of sources
by medical librarians at the National Institutes of Health. Separate resource

Comprehensive Cancer Network Treatment Guidelines for Patients: Website
with information on treatment guidelines for several major cancers. The National
Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), a not-for-profit alliance of 21 of the
worlds leading cancer centers, is dedicated to improving the quality and
effectiveness of care provided to patients with cancer.

Community Breast Health Project:
A non-profit, San Francisco Bay Area Resource Center dedicated to providing
information and support to people dealing with breast cancer or with breast
health issues.
Community Technology Alliance:
An information and referral database for Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties,
CA. Their mission is to end and prevent homelessness by linking and networking
communities through technology.
Human Care Alliance:
A collaboration of over 60 nonprofit Health and Human Service Agencies serving
Santa Cruz County, CA.
Mother's Living
Stories Project: An effort to help mothers who have cancer to record their
life stories and personal legacies for their children and loved ones. Ill mothers
are paired with trained volunteer listeners to review their lives and record
their stories. Located in the San Francisco, CA, Bay area.
Next Step (The):
A boutique in Los Gatos, CA, for women who have experienced breast cancer and
have had a lumpectomy or mastectomy; products include speciality bras, swimsuits,
lingerie, hair and skin products.

Library System's Community Information Database (CID) is a comprehensive database

UC Santa Cruz: The UCSC Women's Center affirms the dignity and diversity
of all women. The Center continues and challenges feminist traditions by creating
community space for all women and allies to achieve individual and social change.

WomenCARE: WomenCARE,
located in Santa Cruz, California, is a community providing advocacy, resources,
education and support to women with cancer and their loved one throughout diagnosis,
healing, surviving, or dying. Services include free support groups, art for
healing, a complementary treatment group, healing walks, a knitting/needlework
group, a lending and reference library, and a writing circle. Individual support
services for women with cancer are Sisters Offering Support (SOS) and the Peer
Navigator Program (with Stanford University). Entre Nosotras provides free assistance
for Spanish-speaking women with cancer.

Advocacy group that lobbies at the national, state and local levels for public

National Ovarian Cancer Coalition:
Website with information and educational materials on ovarian cancer, and a
toll free ovarian cancer information line (1-888-OVARIAN).
The Campaign for Safe
Cosmetics: An advocacy group working to require the health and beauty industry
to phase out the use of chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects and other
health problems and replace them with safer alternatives.
Skin Deep:
An online, brand-by-brand personal care product safety guide with in-depth information
on 14,227 products, such as lotion, lip balm, deodorant, and sunscreen. A project
of the Environmental Working Group, a non-profit research and advocacy organization
based in Washington, D.C.
Support for People with Oral
and Head and Neck Cancer: SPOHNC is a patient-directed, self-help organization
dedicated to meeting the needs of oral and head and neck cancer patients. SPOHNC
was founded in 1991 by an oral cancer survivor.

Women's Voices for the Earth: A nonprofit environmental
justice organization working to empower women to create an ecologically sustainable
and socially just society. Works to eliminate environmental pollutants impacting

coping and quality of life, and information on advocacy.
