SERVICES HAVEN’T MISSED A BEAT
We want to let you all know that OUR DOORS REMAIN OPEN and there has been
NO lapse in the many services we offer women with cancer and their families
and friends.
Some of you might have read the Sentinel article a couple of weeks ago, and
others of you may have heard through the grapevine, that the agency is facing
a big financial challenge. This is true, and there has, in the last few weeks,
been a large outpouring of support from our Santa Cruz community. We are greatly
encouraged by the depth and breadth of this concern and passionate commitment
to helping preserve our unique services.
We have a new board of directors and a committed fundraising team. They, along
with staff, have been meeting with financial advisors and development consultants
to create a sustainable long-term income for WomenCARE.
It is both exciting and challenging.
We are also looking for 2 or 3 more board members who have a strong background
with nonprofit boards and who could make at least a 6-month commitment. We are
particularly hoping for an attorney, women with fundraising talents and/or experience
working with the media.
Please contact LaVerne or Allison if you are interested: 457-2273
We couldn’t do it without you!
Donations of any amount are welcome and greatly appreciated.
Video Speaks from the Heart of WomenCARE
WomenCARE's video, Further to Fly, is a deeply moving 13 minute video
with an encouraging message from women with cancer to women with cancer, sharing
words of experience spoken from the heart of WomenCARE. The video can be viewed
at our office, checked out of our lending library, or purchased for a suggested
donation of $10, which covers the cost of reproduction. Any donation above
$10 will go towards the production of a linguistically and culturally appropriate
video for the Spanish speaking population of Santa Cruz County. Call the office
at 457-2273 to view or purchase the video.
